The USS Arizona (BB-39) was a major battleship in the United States Navy, she was built by the Newport News Shipbuilding Company in Virginia and was launched on June 19, 1915.

The ship is best known for its tragic fate during the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. The Arizona was hit by several bombs, one of which detonated the ammunition magazine, causing a massive explosion that ultimately sank the ship. More than 1,100 crewmen lost their lives in this event. Today, the wreck still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor, and the USS Arizona Memorial was built above it in honor of those who perished.
