British and US armoured columns have arrived in Weferlingen, and with East-German forces crippled, the end is in sight.

The 1st Royal Tank Regiment (1RTR) Battlegroup consisting of both British and US troops has deployed in the region, and with the support of local infantry units including the 102nd, are tasked with pushing the Warsaw Pact forces back across the border. 4 Challenger 1 tanks fresh from their first field trials in Exercise LIONHEART have been assigned to sector three, supported by Inkerman Company of the British Grenadier Guards a mechanised unit operating the new Warrior IFVs also fresh from field trials.

Politicians and Leaders within NATO are convinced that should the Warsaw Pact find itself fighting within their own borders, they will surely sue for peace. As such a short window has been ordered within the heavy bombardment of NATO artillery and airstrikes, to launch a decisive counter attack. Four sectors have been assigned to the 1RTR battlegroup, one, two, and four are diversionary attacks to lure Warsaw pact forces away from Weferlingen town, while sector three will see a spearhead assault into the town itself.

While military leaders remain unsure the ‘war’ will end so neatly, they have no choice other than to push the Warsaw Pact back and hope that what the NATO leaders are saying is true, combat must finish before winter or else a stalemate is guaranteed and the brutal tragedy of trench warfare in Europe may again become a reality.
