The red menace of the Warsaw Pact has crossed into West Germany with extreme prejudice. With British Troops struggling to reorganise and deploy from exercise LIONHEART, and US troops still in transit, West German forces are left to weather the storm alone. No formal declaration on war has been issued; however, this brings no solace to the dead and dying which lay strewn across the border. With cover from fast moving mechanized divisions, the East German 9th Panzerdivision has arrived in Weferlingen with a full accompaniment of support assets.

After brutal combat in Saalsdorf both sides of the conflict are licking their wounds. This affords a unique opportunity for the 102nd to inflict critical damage to the advancing Warsaw Pact troops while they are still disorganised. A company strength unit stands no chance going toe to toe with the overwhelming foe, so instead must settle for attacks of opportunity. Every blow no matter how small paves the way to victory.

Other local units are in full retreat, but regional command has kept additional assets, not considered critical to the war effort, behind to aid the 102nd in their mission. Namely an understrength Leopard platoon and their light armoured reconnaissance element. A small handful of support weaponry, 120mm mortars, a combat engineering team, and a barebones field hospital have also been dispatched to Querenhorst to provide critical combat support and aid.
