RATING:
Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group will conduct a special reconnaissance operation in an AO currently controlled by a near-peer adversary. Intelligence has identified key infrastructure supporting enemy logistical movements, communication networks, and supply chains. The enemy possesses a layered defence network with rapid response capabilities; any exposure of friendly forces will trigger an overwhelming counteraction, making operational secrecy paramount. The area is characterised by lightly forested terrain, which is mostly flat, with large bodies of water crossed by key bridges. Weather forecasts predict overcast conditions with sporadic rainfall, which will aid in evading aerial surveillance but could hinder visibility and mobility.
Charlie Company will insert covertly under the cover of darkness, conduct special reconnaissance activities, and sabotage key infrastructure critical to enemy sustainment. The company must remain undetected while collecting intelligence, executing precision attacks on high-value targets, and disrupting enemy operations. Upon mission completion, the unit will exfiltrate before first light to avoid detection and potential encirclement.
The operation will unfold in five distinct phases:
Insertion:
- Charlie Company will infiltrate the AO via low-drift inflatable boat launched from a covertly infiltrated submarine.
- Naval landing zones will be selected based on terrain features that provide concealment and proximity to reconnaissance objectives.
- Upon landing, teams will establish temporary hide sites to orient themselves and confirm operational security.
Reconnaissance and Target Identification:
- Elements will move independently to predesignated reconnaissance points, maintaining strict radio silence and employing passive observation methods.
- Priority intelligence requirements (PIRs) include enemy troop movement patterns, supply convoy routes, and vulnerabilities in command and control infrastructure.
Sabotage and Ambush Operations:
- Small, surgical strikes will be executed against critical enemy infrastructure such as fuel depots, bridge choke points, and communication nodes.
- Quick ambushes will be employed against high-value mobile targets, focusing on enemy logistics and command elements rather than direct engagements with combat units.
Exfiltration:
- Once the operational objectives are met, Charlie Company will consolidate at designated exfiltration points.
- Extraction will occur via captured enemy boats which have been pre-designated by drone reconnaissance.
- Should the primary exfiltration plan be compromised, the alternate plan is to extract via the same boats used for insertion.
Coordinating Instructions:
ROE: Minimize direct engagement. Suppressed weapons should be used at all times.
Communication Protocols: Radio silence should be in-place when moving, and during insertion and extraction. Comms should be kept to a bare minimum to avoid detection.
Contingencies:
- If compromised, the company should look to extract immediately forgoing any further objectives.
- If a team is unable to reach a exfiltration point, they should hold position and await a follow-on recovery operation.
Support and Logistics:
Equipment Loadout: Each operator will carry mission-specific loadouts optimized for mobility, including suppressed weapon systems, demolitions, and lightweight sustainment kits.
Medical Support: Every team will have a dedicated combat medic equipped for prolonged field care in case of casualties.
Supply Resupply: No resupply is planned. Teams must be self-sustaining for the duration of the mission.
Command and Control:
Commander’s Intent: The success of this operation hinges on stealth and precision. Avoid detection at all costs, strike only when conditions are ideal, and exfiltrate before the enemy can mount a coordinated response.
Reporting Channels: Elements will report status at pre-established intervals unless under duress, in which case emergency signals will be used.
Operational Authority: The company commander will have full tactical authority, with oversight from higher command monitoring remotely through encrypted satellite uplinks.
Conclusion
Charlie Company will conduct this mission with the highest level of professionalism, discipline, and adaptability. The risk of detection is high, and failure will result in overwhelming enemy retaliation. However, if executed correctly, this operation will significantly degrade enemy logistical capabilities, sow confusion, and provide critical intelligence for future operations.
