1. Situation:
Over the past several months, insurgent forces operating throughout the Kunar Valley have intensified attacks against coalition patrols and Afghan National Army checkpoints. Intelligence reports indicate that several villages within the region are being used as staging grounds for weapons trafficking, recruitment, and insurgent command operations. Recent drone surveillance and intercepted communications identified a fortified compound near the village of Darbat being used by insurgent commander “Mullah Rahim,” a high-value target responsible for coordinating ambushes and IED attacks against coalition forces operating in the area. Enemy fighters have established observation posts across the surrounding mountains and ridgelines overlooking the valley roads. Insurgent forces are expected to possess AK-pattern rifles, PKM machine guns, RPGs, technical vehicles, and limited mortar capability. To disrupt insurgent activity and eliminate enemy command infrastructure within the valley, a platoon-sized element of US Army Rangers has been tasked with conducting a nighttime air assault operation into the region.

2. Mission:
 -Our mission is to conduct an air assault operation into the Kunar Valley, eliminate insurgent forces operating near Darbat, and capture or eliminate HVT “Mullah Rahim.” Ranger elements will secure enemy observation posts, clear hostile compounds, gather intelligence, and destroy enemy weapons caches before extracting back to friendly lines.

3. Execution – Concept of Operations:
 Phase I – Insert via helicopter and secure LZ Falcon.
 Phase II – Advance through the valley and eliminate enemy observation posts occupying the surrounding ridgelines.
 Phase III – Assault and clear the Darbat compound while support elements suppress enemy reinforcements.
 Phase IV – Search the objective area for intelligence, weapons caches, and HVT personnel.
Phase V – Consolidate forces and extract all friendly elements to FOB Anvil before enemy counterattack forces arrive.

4. Logistics
-All personnel are to conduct final ammunition, medical, and equipment checks prior to insertion.
-Insertion into the AO will be conducted via rotary-wing assets. Reinserts and resupply operations will also be conducted via rotary-wing transport when available.
-Squad-level medical support will be maintained throughout the operation, with additional treatment capability provided by the Platoon Medic.
-Enemy IED activity is expected along primary routes, chokepoints, and urban access roads within the AO so make sure to carry mine detector.
-NVGs/NODs are authorized and strongly recommended for all participating personnel.
