Operation Jackstay was a joint USMC, US Navy, US Coast Guard and RVN Marine Division operation in the Rung Sat Special Zone, South Vietnam that took place during the period of 26 March through 6 April 1966. 

By early 1966 the Viet Cong had established a sizeable presence within the Sác Forest to the South East of Saigon due to the dense nature of the jungle terrain allowing the Viet Cong to use the area as a safe zone to launch attacks against RVN and American forces, as well as civilian shipping traversing the Lòng Tàu River towards the capital of Saigon. 

Following a Viet Cong ambush on the freighter SS Lorinda in February of 1966, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) decided that a large-scale amphibious raid in the area would be necessary to ease VC pressure on the shipping channel. This Operation, dubbed Operation Jackstay, would be assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, supported by the 4th and 5th RVN Marine Corps Battalions.

Commencing at H or L-Hour, Company C BLT 1/5 will seize LF Objectives 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 from Viet Cong forces; Company C will destroy enemy troops, equipment and supplies and conduct search and destroy missions. BLT 1/5 will secure bases for subsequent operations and prepare to assume further missions as assigned.
