Operation Summary

Following the successful completion of Operation El Dorado Canyon, enemy activity in the AO has been severely disrupted, but reconnaissance indicates that deeper reserves, dispersed logistics nodes, and additional long-range strike assets remain operational. To maintain pressure and deny the enemy the ability to reconstitute combat power, Command has authorized Operation Ghost Rider, a follow-on precision strike carried out under the cover of darkness. Ghost Rider will focus on destroying remaining hardened bunkers, warehouse complexes, and hidden SCUD launchers that survived earlier strikes or have been relocated. Enemy forces have shifted many of these assets into camouflaged or partially concealed positions, making night operations advantageous for concealment on ingress and reducing exposure to AAA during approach. This mission will employ GPS-guided weapons, enabling stand-off engagement and precise targeting in low-visibility conditions. Night operations will demand disciplined navigation and coordinated use of onboard sensors. SEAD elements will maintain suppression on residual SAM threats, while strike flights will deliver focused precision attacks to eliminate the remaining infrastructure supporting enemy offensive capabilities. Operation Ghost Rider aims to complete the degradation of enemy logistics and long-range strike capacity, paving the way for stabilization operations across the AO and ensuring the task force retains full operational freedom in the region.
